CTH

Our History

Over the last 40 years, CTH has focused on developing and adding value to careers globally in the Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism industries. Established in 1982 as a specialist professional awarding body, our mission is to focus on the training needs of new entrants and existing industry professionals. We now have a network of over two hundred Approved Teaching Centres worldwide delivering industry-relevant CTH qualifications to thousands of new students each year.

What makes us a specialist awarding body?

Like any awarding body, we do not actually teach the CTH qualifications ourselves, we offer them to be taught and studied at the teaching centres that we approve. However, unlike many other awarding bodies, we focus purely on Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism. This focus and the vast industry experience of our staff, has allowed us to become experts in these sectors, whilst the value of us working alongside key industry partners gives a superior level of experience and support to our teaching centres.

Strategic Vision

At CTH we seek to provide Gold Standard qualifications for the Tourism, Hospitality, Travel and Culinary industries. It is our mission that our qualifications should be:

Suitable for Progression

CTH programmes seek wherever possible to offer candidates not only a direct pathway into their career but also a pathway to further, higher level study for those that seek it. Many CTH programmes therefore offer such pathways, ultimately leading to final year bachelor’s and master’s degrees with many respected British and international universities.

High Quality

At CTH, our core mission is to provide the highest standard of qualifications. CTH achieves this through robust monitoring supported by the industry, universities and the UK government regulator, Ofqual.

Academically Robust

CTH continuously seeks to strengthen its relationships with leading employers in our sector. Only through this can we ensure that our programmes are up to date and relevant to the needs of careers available. Virgin Atlantic and Star Alliance, for example, partner with CTH on our Certificate qualifications while our management programmes are endorsed by a variety of key industry players.

Highly Relevant

CTH continuously seeks to build its partnerships with worldwide educational authorities and academic institutions. CTH is a member of the Federation of Awarding Bodies and liaises with universities and other awarding bodies.
